With the craze of coconut waters and bamboo waters taking over the internet, you can’t have escaped seeing health and beauty drinks somewhere in your social media feeds. These drinks contain nutritional ingredients and healthy supplements to have a variety of benefits for your body and your skin.
The first of the drinks that I’m going to talk about are my favourite. Coco Pro are flavoured pure coconut waters with added protein (Whey Protein Absolute) – they are completely delicious! They have around 130 calories per drink and they are designed to be recovery drinks post-sport activity, however, if I am incredbly low on energy, I find these really helpful to perk me back up. A lot better than reaching for the Lucozade! With these drinks you get intense hydration from the coconut water and they have a huge 20g of protein for energy. They are also packed with electrolytes to help maintain fluid levels in the body and regulate heart, brain and nervous system function. I get these from Wholefoods for £2.69 each, but you can order them from Ocado too. You need to try the Pineapple-flavoured one.
Next, I’ve really been enjoying Vit Hit drinks. These are basically fruit juices that are super-low in calories – the highest one being 35 calories per bottle. The Detox mandarin juice is my favourite, but there is a great Lean & Green green juice too. These contain 100% of your recommended daily allowance of around 8 essential vitamins and minerals. Each of the flavours has a different purpose e.g. energy or immune system support, so they are rich in different vitamins. My favourite, the Detox version, contains niacin, pantothenic acid, vitamin B6, folic acid, biotin and vitamin B12, vitamin C as well as 300mg of antioxident green tea (equivalent to three full cups). If I’ve not been eating that great, I’ve been reaching for these to give me a healthy injection of vitamins. You can get these from Tesco for £1.45 each.
Finally, the Perfectil Platinum Collagen Hair and Skin Beauty Drinks bring benefits that you can see on the outside. They have a Skin and a Hair version of these shot-like drinks that are enriched with collagen. The Hair drink’s collagen gives your hair strength and helps it to retain moisture. Natural levels of collagen decline with age, leaving us with thin and dull hair. If you are experiencing this, these drinks will help it to look and feel healthier. The drinks also have amino acids, Inositol, Blackcurrant Seed Oil (rich in Omega-3 and Omega-6 essential fatty
acids), biotin, selenium, zinc and copper – all ingredients that help maintain normal healthy hair and hair pigmentation. It costs £39.85 for a pack of ten drinks from the Vitabiotics (manufacturer) website.
The Skin drink also sells for the same price. This drink’s collagen helps improve skin elasticity and plumpness, which helps diminish fine lines and wrinkles. As well as collagen, these drinks also contain Hyaluronic Acid, L-Carnitine, Co-Q10, Blackcurrant Seed Oil, biotin, zinc, selenium and vitamin D – which help maintain normal healthy skin, helps skin retain moisture, protects skin from oxidative stress and aids the process of new skin cell formation. If you are a huge skincare junkie, why not help look after it from the inside too?! These Perfectil drinks don’t taste amazing, but they are so small so you can drink them really quickly.
