SLEEP PROBLEM SOLUTIONS TO HELP YOU

    October 10, 2025 in LIFESTYLE
    Sleep problem solutions

Studies suggest that around 20% of people in the UK don’t get enough sleep. So that’s a lot of people looking for sleep problem solutions. There are many possible causes of sleepless nights and disturbed sleep. Often, making simple changes can have a significant impact. In this guide, we’ll outline some steps you can take today to solve sleep problems.

    Establishing an evening routine

We often think about investing time and effort in implementing sleep routines for children, but they are beneficial for all ages. The main reason to embrace an evening routine is to encourage your body clock to adjust. If you go to bed and get up at the same time each day, you should find that you feel tired at night and bright and breezy in the morning. Try to use your evenings to unwind and relax and prepare your body and mind for rest. Examples of things you can do to wind down include running a bath, watching TV, reading a book, listening to a podcast, listening to a chilled playlist, or going for a gentle stroll.

Sleep problem solutions – Tackling stress and anxiety triggers

Anxiety and stress are common causes of low-quality sleep and difficulties getting to and staying asleep. If you experience anxiety or feel stressed, it can be difficult to switch off and feel calm. There are many self-help techniques you can try to manage stress and ease anxiety – a great example of sleep problem solutions. Some people benefit from using CBD products, aromatherapy, and breathing exercises, while other popular remedies include regular exercise, spending time in nature, talking to other people, doing creative activities, and journaling. You may find that you need to try a range of different methods or activities to see what works for you. In the case of severe anxiety or symptoms that are getting worse, it’s beneficial to see your doctor.

    Exercise frequently

It may seem counterproductive to recommend exercise if you’re exhausted due to a lack of sleep, but an active lifestyle can be a potent therapy for better sleep. Exercise offers myriad benefits when it comes to sleep quality. Not only does it physically tire you out, but it’s also a proven stress-buster.

If you work out frequently, you can burn off energy, you’ll feel happier and more confident, and you can enjoy a welcome distraction from stressors and causes of anxiety. From boxing, HIIT sessions and running to swimming, walking and doing yoga, you can choose activities that suit your mood and the mindset you want to enjoy. If you’re feeling restless or angry, for example, high-intensity sports can help you channel your emotions constructively. If you’re tired or craving peace and tranquility, a yoga session or a walk in nature can help you decompress.

Exercise can be a stimulant, depending on the activity you choose. It’s best to stick to low-intensity sports if you’re working out in the evening.

Sleep problems affect around 1 in 5 British adults. If you experience sleep troubles, it’s important to take action to protect your physical and mental health by finding suitable sleep problem solutions. Simple steps you can try today include establishing a consistent routine, tackling stress and anxiety and exercising regularly. It’s important to seek medical help if your symptoms don’t improve after implementing self-help techniques.
