Last week I spent an evening in the most beautiful and relaxing spa I have ever been to, and given my profession, I have been to rather a lot.
From the moment I entered, I was immediately ‘hugged’ by the warmth of their log cabin style decor and the scent from the dozens of lit candles. Exposed wood, ‘fur’ rugs and comfy armchairs filled the foyer, and made me instantly relax. I was greeted by one of the receptionists who brought my husband and I their health form to complete and a smoothie and hot cloth. We had to remove our shoes here and change into their slippers before entering the spa.
Our first sight was the stunning relaxation room full of twinkling candles, fireplaces, rustic wood and a huge floor to ceiling window that looked out over the walled garden. The lighting was dim, and the room was the sort of place you could easily fall asleep in. You are encouraged to spend the whole day here in your robe and slippers- with complimentary sherry and iced water, plus the ability to order hot drinks and scones for an extra charge.
We were guided to the individual private changing rooms that all contain a shower, toilet, basin with Aromatherapy Associates face cleansing products, fresh towels and a fresh dressing gown. When you are changed, you just pop all your belongings into the locker outside, and head back to the relaxation room to wait for your therapist.
I had the Spiezia Open Your Eyes treatment (£50 for 30 minutes), and my husband had the Spiezia Back To Life treatment (£50 for 30 minutes). The treatment rooms are just as stunning as the rest of the property, and the temperature can be adjusted to just how you want it via air conditioning and heated beds. Before your treatment begins, your therapist will go through the stages of it with you (so it can be tailored to your needs) whilst your feet are bathed. The Spiezia Open Your Eyes treatment uses organic Spiezia products and includes a facial that focuses on the eye area to hydrate, awaken and tackle signs of aging. My skin felt thoroughly cleansed afterwards and it seemed much longer than just 30 minutes. My husband’s Spiezia Back To Life involved a back exfoliation and then moisturising treatment using Spiezia products; before a relaxing massage with Aromatherapy Associates De-Stress Muscle Gel.
You are then returned to the relaxation room where you receive a fruit and nuts platter and are left free to enjoy the rest of your time at the spa- further relaxing and reading magazines, or visiting the lavender aromatherapy sauna or salt steam room. I am definitely going to head back again to Fletcher’s Cottage Spa to have a manicure, as the nail room is so pretty.
