It struck me today that I must have written about 30 different posts and features on SS16 fashion across the various publications I write for, but have only focussed on day wear. I’ve neglected all of the beautiful party dresses and evening gowns that are out there at the moment. I saw some stunning pieces at the Debenhams SS16 press show and lots when I’ve been out on shopping trips in places such as Quiz- I’ve just not had anywhere fancy enough to go recently to make me purchase one. There are less formal or glitzy evening occassions at this time of year compared to Christmas, but if you have a wedding or a prom to go to, I hoped that rounding up some of my favourite dresses from the high street would help you out.
As I said, Debenhams have some beautiful dresses in their No.1 Jenny Packham Designers at Debenhams collection and from their own Debut brand. The Debut Light Pink Multiway Evening Dress (£99) is perfect for spring occassions, and you don’t have to worry about wearing the same dress twice as you can change the neckline on this from being a halter neck to having kimono sleeves and much more. There are so many ways to wear this, it’s incredible! This would be a perfect bridesmaid’s dress and would look stunning at a black tie event.
Quiz have also been going all out with their going out dresses. They have teamed up with model Chloe Lloyd for their new #GetGlamorous collection that’s been designed to make you feel confident and encourage you to make an impression. The Light Grey Chiffon High Neck Lace Waterfall Maxi Dress (£74.99) looks and feels like its a lot more expensive than it is. It would be perfect for a prom or a stylish occasion like a cocktail party. It’s extremely detailed and has a lovely floaty chiffon skirt.
Oasis are also offering some amazing occasion wear at the moment and their new V&A collection is a collaboration featuring prints from the ceramics at the Victoria & Albert Museum. This is the perfect place to go if you are looking for a shorter knee-length dress. The V&A Camille Pencil Dress (£65) is a real statement floral piece. It would be perfect for a wedding or a fancy garden party.
Have you got anywhere exciting to go this spring or summer?
