These have been on my list to try for a long time and I finally got round to it. Something about the words ‘Iceland’ and ‘Hydro Cool’, along with the blue packaging, made me anticipate an incredibly cooling experience.
Sadly, the Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels (£25 for 8 pairs from Cult Beauty) are nothing special and feel no different to all the other eye gel masks that I’ve tried and reviewed (e.g. here). The results are no different either – you can definitely get the same experience elsewhere for cheaper. Sorry if I got your hopes up by placing them alongside ice-creams.
You stick these masks on under your eyes for 10 minutes if you want to firm this area or diminish the puffiness and dark circles that come with tiredness. As I said, they do work, but the experience didn’t blow me away and they aren’t worth the price. When you remove these masks, you skin is tighter, smoother and brighter; but, there’s nothing cooling about them.
I don’t really care that they contain “mineral-rich Icelandic glacial water”, but they are enriched with oxygen and elastin, which is how they do what they do; along with acetyl hexapeptide (a synthetic peptide that is used in anti-aging products) to reduce the appearance of fine lines.
Have you tried these and did they impress you?
