OK, so I haven’t tried every brush cleaner in the world, but i’ve tested a good amount. This one from Blank Canvas is by far the best I’ve ever come across. It literally restores your brushes to looking like they’re fresh out the shop in seconds.
The Blank Canvas Cosmetics Solid Brush & Sponge Cleansing Soap (£12.87 from Blank Canvas Cosmetics) is incredible and you get a lot of it for your money. We all spend a lot of money on our makeup brushes, so it’s so important to care for them and to keep them clean to avoid bacterial build up.
Cleaning your brushes literally takes seconds with this soap. All I do is wet my brush’s bristles, gently rub them over the surface of the soap, massage the soap into the bristles with my fingers to loosen the product build up, then rinse. Your brush will seriously look and feel as good as new. The soap also has a lovely fresh fragrance, so your brushes smell clean too. Make sure you re-shape the bristles of your brush with your fingers before leaving to dry.
This soap is also great at cleaning sponges, but this takes a little longer than a few seconds – as makeup product goes much deeper into a sponge than it does with a brush. Wet your sponge, rub it over the surface of the soap, then massage the soap into the sponge with your fingers before squeezing and rinsing. You will need to do this a few times before the water coming out of your sponge when you squeeze it runs clear (as opposed to foundation-coloured).
I also wanted to take a minute to rave about the Blank Canvas Cosmetics sponges themselves. These are so good! The Blank Canvas Cosmetics Airbrush Blender Sponge Pear Shape (£6 from Blank Canvas Cosmetics) is latex-free and is great at getting into the contours of your face. The sponge expands so much when you soak it in warm water and it gives such a beautiful, natural finish to foundation when you apply it with this by stippling it on. I also love the Blank Canvas Cosmetics Airbrush Blender Sponge Teardrop Shape (£6 from Blank Canvas Cosmetics). This expands so much when soaked too and has a great ‘spring-y’ texture. You can cover such a large surface area quickly, with the rounded base of this sponge.
Have you tried this brush and sponge cleanser before?
