I’m definitely feeling summery now, and these nail varnishes from Rimmel (which i’ve been wearing for the last 10 days) are really helping with that. They have strong sunshine vibes, with their bright, eye-catching colours.
The Rimmel Super Gel Beach Ready Collection* (£5.99 from Boots) adds 5 new shades to Rimmel’s Super Gel nail polish range. The concept behind Super Gel is that it’s a two-step system that is supposed to replicate the look and lasting power of gel nails, without the use of a curing lamp. You apply your colour coats as you would with a normal polish, then you apply the special Super Gel top coat like you would with any top coat.
I really like these new shades as the colours really pop. They also look shiny. They do not, however, look anything like proper gel nails as they lack any kind of ‘plumpness’ (they stay very flat) and the shine just doesn’t reach the same level as gel nails either. Similarly, sadly, they have nowhere near the lasting power of gel nails. Rimmel say that you can get 14 days wear out of these polishes, but they start to chip on me after just a few days. I do like the application brushes though – they allow you to be very precise.
If you buy these for the pretty shades and just think of them as normal nail polishes that are a bit longer lasting than usual, you won’t be disappointed. Have you tried these? What did you think?
