I’ve been geeking out on skincare a lot more than usual over recent months, and i’ve discovered 7 products that I love, but hadn’t come across before. I, of course, had to share them with you as they are definitely worth trying.
Skin Laundry Night Renew Treatment* – £36, Feel Unique
This night serum contains 0.2% Retinol, so it’s a good starting point for those wanting to introduce a Retinol into their routine. I currently use 2% Retinol at night, which would be far too harsh on your skin unless you work up to that level slowly and let your skin get used to it. Retinol (a form of Vitamin A) works on your skin to even skin tone, improve skin texture, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It is quite drying on the skin, so Skin Laundry have included Safflower Seed Oil, which contains Omega 6 and offers hydration and help with maintaining that skin barrier. It also softens the feel of the skin. Also in this serum is Shea Butter to moisturise and condition, and Sodium Hyaluronate (a salt form of Hyaluronic Acid) to attract moisture to the skin and keep it locked in there. This all makes it a very enjoyable cream to use, as you are getting the Retinol benefits without the skin drying side effects. I’ve just introduced my Mum to Retinol with this product, and she is currently loving it. Just make sure you use an SPF during the day.
Embryolisse Crème Riche Hydratante* – £29.99 from Look Fantastic
This is an ideal moisturiser for the colder months of the year, or for those with very dry or dehydrated skin. It’s a new, richer, heavier version of their cult Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré, which also acts as a great hydrating primer. Embryolisse Crème Riche Hydratante is a real power moisturiser that’s triple action and makes your skin feel so soft and conditioned. It contains moisturising Sweet Almond Oil and hydrating Hyaluronic Acid; Beeswax to relieve dry skin and lock in moisture; antioxidant vitamins and wheat proteins to protect your skin from environmental stresses and to attract and lock in moisture (via the Ceramides in wheat protein). Your skin feels so soft, nourished and protected after using this cream. It’s such a treat for the skin.
GlamGlow Volcasmic Matte Glow Moisturiser* – £39 from Debenhams
Oh my God this day cream smells amazing (of Terry’s Chocolate Orange)! It’s actually more of a balm, but a water-based one, and it does matte the skin while still giving you a subtle lit-from-within radiance. It’s quite a creation and it might take a little bit of time for you to get used to the formula, but it’s worth it as it’s such a good product. It’s hydrating, it controls shine and it primes your skin for makeup. It leaves your skin feeling velvety soft and very moisturised. You don’t need to use a lot either. It contains volcanic minerals to soak up oil on the skin; as well as the innovative TEAOXI® complex (cherry tomato leaf, prickly pear, and winter daphne flora) and vitamin B5 to intensely nourish the skin and fortify the skin’s barrier. Great for someone with oily skin, or just someone who likes a matte finish and a velvety-soft base for their makeup.
DCL Hydra Boost Finishing Serum* – £98 from Space NK
This hydrating serum is definitely a luxury one, but it’s so beautiful to use. It’s basically all based around Hyaluronic Acid – which is found naturally in the skin to attract and lock in moisture. This serum sets out to replicate that. It contains three different sizes of Hyaluronic Acid molecules – to reach the deeper layers of the skin, and it plumps, hydrates and rejuvenates the skin. Hyaluronic Acid is a key anti-ageing ingredient as it plumps out fine lines from within. There’s also anti-ageing, collagen-boosting amino acids in this serum too – to enhance the production of collagen.
As well as Hyaluronic Acid, the DCL Hydra Boost Finishing Serum also has plant extracts that also attract and lock in moisture; and there’s a seaweed complex in here too – to calm, hydrate and nourish and to optimise cell renewal. It’s a lightweight serum and you feel such an incredible, immediate difference in the moisture-levels and plumpness of your skin.
Nadur Genie Rinsable Oil Cleanser and Makeup Remover* – €28.50, Nadur
This oil cleanser from luxury Irish brand Nadur works so well. My skin doesn’t usually like oils, but I get on very well with this. It’s amazing at removing makeup – even stubborn waterproof mascaras – and it feels so gentle on this skin. It’s water-soluable, so you can rinse it off easily; although I do still use a hot, damp flannel to wipe it off. The oil moisturises your skin and leaves it feeling very soft too. I love that it’s 100% natural and contains no harsh chemicals too. Ingredients include Sweet Almond Oil, Jojoba Seed Oil, Pomegranate Seed Oil and antioxident Vitamin E.
Alpha H Liquid Gold Rose Limited Edition* – £37 from Alpha-H
I had never got round to trying this cult product, so when this rose-infused limited edition one arrived, it was definitely the time to put it to the test. It’s basically an AHA acid (5% Glycolic) toner for exfoliating and resurafacing the skin, whilst still offering hydration via Hyaluronic Acid to counter-act the drying effects of the acid, as well as a botanical complex (Rose, Lotus and Orchid Petal) to offer anti-inflammatory and anti-redness benefits. This lotion is designed to break down dead skin cells, diminish skin roughness, diminish scar visibility, reduce skin pigmentation and reduce the visibility of sun damage. It really works if you give it a regular place in your routine. Start with one application (swiped over your skin with a cotton pad) once per week, then progress to three times per week.
For those interested, it also has anti-ageing benefits – it lowers the skin’s pH level to stimulate cellular activity to speed up repair and renewal processes, and bolster the synthesis of Collagen and Elastin – which keeps the skin firm and strong.
Emma Hardie Amazing Face Lift & Sculpt Firming Neck Treatment* – £65 from Cult Beauty
I love everything from the Emma Hardie brand, so I knew I would love this. Now i’ve started using this product, I think I’m going to have to keep on re-purchasing. It’s a light cream for your neck that’s dispensed via a very cooling metal roller. The idea is that you apply it whilst also massaging your skin in an upwards direction via the roller. It’s designed to lift and sculpt the thin, vulnerable skin, that’s prone to sagging, on this area of the body; as well as hydrate and boost collagen.
It contains collagen and elastin boosters Neodermyl and Lifton in-Expert; hydrating Hyaluronic Acid; and Omega 3, 6 and 9-rich Raspberry Oil and Inca Inchi Oil to provide protection to the skin and help it to retain moisture. This is such an enjoyable product to use – you’ll want to sit there rollering all day long.
Have you tried out any of these?
