For this week’s Face Mask Friday, I’m switching things up a bit. It’s not the face, but it’s very close – a décolletage mask. The skin689 Firm Skin Decolleté Mask is a bio-cellulose sheet mask that’s designed to be laid over the area from the base of our neck to our chest.
This area is so often neglected in our skin care regimes as most of us tend to stop applying product when we reach our neck. It’s important to remember, however, that the skin on your décolletage is just as susceptible to signs of ageing and the effects of the sun, so we should take our product application all the way down to our chest.
The skin689 Firm Skin Decolleté Mask (£7.90 from Face The Future) is designed to smooth the skin, nourish the skin, and provide a cooling, refreshing experience. It’s made from natural bio-cellulose (made from fermented coconut water), so the ingredients in the serum that the mask is infused with, will penetrate better and faster into the skin than they would with a fibre or hydrogel mask.
In the serum, there’s lots of moisturising, soothing and anti-ageing ingredients. Snow Algae Extract is there to activate your skin cells’ longevity gene, as well as to protect and hydrate the skin. There’s also Fermented Coconut Extract, Amino Acid (stimulates cells to produce more collagen and elastin), Niacinamide (a key anti-ageing ingredient that minimises fine lines and evens out skin tone and texture) and a Glucoside-Lysine-Proline-Copper Complex.
The masks sits and feels like a second skin and it moulds around the contours of your skin so tightly. You remove both protective coverings on each side of the mask and then apply it to the décolletage area for 20-30 minutes, before massaging any excess serum into the skin.
I’m definitely guilty of neglecting this area when it comes to my skincare. I’m going to try to be better, but I think that using a mask like this every week would really top up your efforts and keep your décolletage looking as smooth and plump as your face.
