3 HEALTH SYMPTOMS YOU SHOULDN’T IGNORE

    June 16, 2023 in LIFESTYLE

When it comes to your health, you can never be too careful. Many conditions can affect your quality of life and leave you feeling at a loss as to what to do next.

Many variables can impact your health, and currently, there are over 10 million people living with chronic health conditions in the UK alone. And while this might be a scary thought, especially with the increased pressure the NHS is under right now, it doesn’t mean things need to be as bleak as they sound.

No one wants to use up resources for something they can self-treat at home, and the NHS campaign to direct people to the best resources indicates how far they are stretched, but if you feel something is wrong, then you need to go and get medical help.
If you experience any of the following symptoms, book an appointment immediately.

    Unintentional Weight Loss

If you notice you are losing weight without making substantial changes to your diet or exercise and aren’t trying to lose weight, this needs to be investigated. An overactive thyroid, diabetes, cancer, Crohn’s Disease, depression and any more illnesses can cause you to lose weight unintentionally, and you need to get it checked to help you ascertain your current health status. It might be you are diagnosed with type 1 or type 2 diabetes, and you need to make lifestyle changes and find out how does an insulin pump work. Or you might need to change your diet completely following a diagnosis of Crohn’s or IBD, for example. So, getting this check out as soon as possible is essential.

    Dizzy Spells

Dizzy spells can result from many different conditions and can come on as part of an ear infection or short illness. Or can it indicate something more serious is at play? If you are experiencing lightheadedness or dizziness, getting it checked out should be a top priority. It could be you are anaemic; you have an inner ear infection, vertigo, postural hypertension or Meniere’s disease, which all require treatment to hope you live with or manage on a day-to-day basis. So if you feel like you will faint when you stand up, or the room is spinning for no reason, book an appointment today.

    Shortness of Breath

Many people put shortness of breath down to being unfit or carrying a little extra weight, and while for some, this is a perfectly valid reason for shortness of breath, it isn’t the only reason. There are many other reasons for this. It could be that a specific type of medication you are on is causing this symptom, and you need to change to a different one. Or you might have heart or lung disease that needs further investigation and treatment to hope you regain your full health. If you notice any changes to how you feel and how easily you become short of breath, especially with no lifestyle changes, you need to ensure you get this looked into immediately.

    Conclusion

You can manage many health issues at home yourself, but for some, you should look at booking an appointment and getting some medical investigations carried out. This can put your mind at ease and get you the treatment you need.
