    HOW TO PACK LIGHT

    May 4, 2023 in Uncategorized
    how to pack lightly

If you travel often and are tired of carrying too much luggage, you might want to start packing lighter to ensure you can make the most of your holiday. This method might seem challenging for some people because it’s common to bring many things on a trip to ensure more comfort. However, the weight of the luggage and the constant worry that your airport will lose it might convince you to try at least once to carry a few things around.

Of course, this doesn’t mean ditching the essentials and travelling only with some money and your phone. Still, it’s less likely that you’ll need a hair blow dryer with you as most hotels provide that or multiple pairs of shoes.

So, here’s how you can pack light and be weight free!

    How to pack enough clothes

Depending on how long your stay is, plan the clothes you need. The basic rule is to bring seven days’ worth of clothing, so you won’t have to worry about laundry too soon. You’ll surely find someplace to wash and dry your clothes at the end of the week to continue travelling.

When it comes to how many clothes you must bring, make sure you have enough underwear and three to four shirts and pants. You only need a few pairs of shoes, so two should do the trick. Therefore, you’ll have everything needed for some time, and don’t worry about wearing the same thing more than once because no one will notice it; if so, you can easily clean your clothes.

How to pack light – Pack clothes with double usage

If your trip is not that casual and requires sporty clothes or something heavier, you should try packing pieces that can be used in multiple ways. For example, convertible pants are functional and quick-drying, and even roll-up pants are great. Bandanas can also keep your neck warm or protect against smog. At the same time, running shorts and a regular sports bra can be easily used as swimwear. When you pack light it can also help you to make the most of a stopover and not be stuck at the airport with heavy luggage to carry.

If you want to pack lightly and efficiently, consider the size of your luggage. For instance, a 55x40x20 cm expandable suitcase on wheels offers the perfect balance between compactness and capacity, allowing you to fit all your versatile clothing items comfortably.

Compared to an ordinary backpack, an expandable suitcase is particularly practical and provides additional space if required without compromising on ease of mobility.

This size is also generally accepted as a carry-on by most airlines, ensuring that you can keep your essentials close during a stopover and move around the airport with ease.

    How to organise toiletries

You may be packing too much when it comes to toiletries, fearing that you won’t find what you need at the accommodation. However, this is not the case; only if you use specific products for skin care, for example. But if you’re okay with regular products, pack as little as possible. Before booking, consider asking the host if they provide essential toiletry items, such as shampoo and shower gels. If not, you can easily purchase something upon arrival. Rest assured, you won’t use that much of a product in only a few days, and if you pack smart, you’ll have more space for something more substantial.

How to pack your devices and what to bring – How to pack light

If you’re not business travelling, you may not need your laptop. You only need your phone as a regular tourist since it does all you need: takes photos, provides maps for guidance and allows for communicating with close ones.

But you need to be aware of the internet connection you’ll use. Try to avoid public Wi-Fi as it’s dangerous for your online data, according to https://www.databreachcompensationexpert.co.uk/data-breach-compensation/. Luckily, most accommodation places have an internet connection included, so try to use your own internet data when travelling if you need it.

If you’re a photographer and need to store your media somewhere, choose to upload them to a cloud-based server. Your phone can also contain downloaded books, music and maps that can save you time and entertain you when you are bored.

How to use packing organisers in the right luggage

Packing organisers can help you better group clothes and items. Meaning you won’t mess up your luggage when looking for something. Packing cubes and compression bags are perfect for packing things in an arranged way. You can even label them to know exactly what’s inside.

What matters most is the type of luggage you choose when packing light. That’s because rectangular packing cubes go well with a duffel bag or a small case. Remember not to add too much weight to your luggage either. It is easy to exceed the maximum weight for a carry-on bag.

    How to pack necessities

Of course, you’ll have to take money in cash and credit and bring keys, medicine and other essential documents. Luckily, you can get a trendy security belt or pouch. Such a small bag can fit so many things inside. It’s one of the safest options for travelling since it sticks to the body. Of course, leave jewellery and other valuables at home where you can.

How to enhance safety when travelling light

When you have little luggage, people might assume you packed ALL essentials inside. Be careful where you leave your luggage to avoid theft.  Whatever back you choose, make sure you take care of it. A great tip is to put your name and phone number on the bag and on your tech. This way, if something happens, someone will contact you. It’s easy to forget your luggage somewhere when you’re stressed or need to hurry. That’s why you should hold all valuables in something you won’t take off. Think inside jacket pockets or a money belt.

What do you think about packing light?

If you’re not a fan of bringing a few things with you, it’s fine. Having fun while travelling should be the priority, so you must focus on the experience. However, trying to pack light and be free of too much weight can give you a new perspective on travelling.
